That will depend on what was at stake. I knew somebody who accumulated a large fortune while still in his 20s from the stock market. During his 30s, his wife filed for divorce and demanded a large chunk of his fortune plus a hefty monthly alimony. He fought it hard. The wife eventually settled for a lot less than what was originally demanded.
