What should I do to get my wife served the divorce petition?
Im not certain where you live (State, Country, etc), but if its the United States, check to see if your local County Sheriff has a civil process serving unit. Its a wee bit more costly than a process server, and can take longer as officers dont have as much availability 24/7. That said, there is a certain level of fear and gravitas which accompanies a man or woman in uniform when they approach a front door. Not many people refuse to open the door for a uniformed Sheriffs deputy, with a squad car out front, because the reason they are there isnt automatically known, or, could be for another reason like they are in trouble, or they have news, or there is a bear on the loose (common, where I work). Ive never had a County Sheriff not serve documents Ive provided to them. I just have to wait a bit longer than average.
