My daughter and her husband are getting a divorce in CA and neither?
It's not completely impossible. It will definately depend on the ability of the 22 yr. Old to show the court that they are capable of providing the financial and hands on guidance that this14 yr old needs. They need to have a system already in place who can also help pick up any slack since its so hard to be everywhere at once. It would be a good Idea to be overly prepared. Make sure the home is appropriate, the schools are in line with what the child needs. Therapy would be a consideration since the home life seems a bit unstable and they want to show the court they can be proactive. This does happen. Extraordinary young adults can often be more responsible than their parents. It's worth a shot. If there's any way one or both parent supported this it would help.
